Pelvic Organ Prolapse

The pelvic floor, an ensemble of muscles and ligaments, supports the pelvic organs, namely the bladder, uterus and intestines. All these viscera and their proper functions depend on appropriate support.

Unfortunately, vaginal delivery is commonly associated with pelvic floor injury and further supportive defects for the pelvic organs. This leads to lump formation at the vaginal opening, to urine and fecal urgency, frequency and incontinence.

Pelvic floor reconstruction is the key for the cure of these functional impairments, and many newly designed physiotherapy and surgical methods were developed recently to facilitate and improve therapy.
